NEW! Right To Dance: Week Long Intensive!!

We’re excited to announce a Summer Week Long Intensive August 11 – 15!!
Right To Dance Week Long Intensive – one week of professional training in dance technique, choreography, mentorship for LGBTTIQQ2S folks, affirming the experiences of people of colour,  body types, class backgrounds, and abilities. First- time movers of all levels and abilities are welcome.

Making A Stage for Our Stories

Join us for the second annual, Making A Stage for Our Stories is a dance conference and showcase, that focuses on celebrating and affirming the experiences of LGBTTIQQ2S* lives and stories in dance and movement in the studio and on stage.  Last year over 300 people came to share, learn and witness the magic that comes when LGBTTIQQ2S folks come together.

You won’t want to miss it this year!

Workshops will take place in the evenings (6- 10pm) on August 11 – 13 at the 519 Church Street Community Centre. There will also be two showcases: August 16 at 2pm and 7:30pm at the Palmerston Library Theatre, showcasing work by LGBTTIQQ2S people who are movers, dancers and artists.

All dance and movement techniques and genres are encouraged to apply and attend.  Professional to first time movers, facilitators and performers welcome.  LGBTTIQQ2S people of colour, varying class backgrounds, body types, abilities, age ranges, are encouraged to apply!

Come see ILL NANA/DCDC this World Pride!

The Pride season is upon us and we’ll be performing at various community events throughout June as well as curating and performing on different stages on Pride Weekend June 27 – 29th. All Events are taking place in Toronto, except for our performance and workshops at the Allied Media Conference which will be in Detroit.

In Life and After Life and Cancelled Right to Dance Classes

In Life and After Life – explores the personal stories of 3 queer young adults of colour as we acknowledge and sit with our past, current realities and futures. Life does not stop after hard times, and hard times continue. What becomes of us as we live through and with hardship? As we continue on the journey of finding ourselves what makes us who we are, where do we go and what options do we have to survive and thrive? In Life and After Life is a movement derived multidisciplinary work about hope, resilience, and strength. A short Q&A with Sze-Yang, Jelani and kumari will follow their performance.

Co-presented with Gladstone Hotel and United Steelworkers (USW).
Co-sponsored by Inside Out LGBT Film Festival and The People Project.

Right To Dance: 2 Month Intensive is a free 2 month professional training intensive in dance technique, choreography, mentor ship, ending with a final performance for 10 LGBTTIQQ2S people, including LGBTTIQQ2S people of colour, varying body types, class backgrounds, and abilities.

The AMC is a collaborative laboratory of media-based organizing strategies for transforming our world, held every Summer in Detroit.
